![]() For a "premium" AAA title, maybe a day or two of labor.īut, in some countries a PC video game can cost a week's labor or even more, even if it's delivered through an e-distributor. What one would expect is a video-game should be "worth" a handful of hours worth of unskilled labor. (Labor costs?)Ī "PC Video Game Index" might be kind of interesting. What's up with that? Switzerland isn't exactly isolated and they have lots of cows an' stuffs. ![]() So, for US peeps, a "Big Mac" costs a relative $7.29 in Switzerland.Īnd, right next door it's being sold at average, in the EU region, for $5.16. A fun little way to look at that is the "Big Mac Index." :) We're all familiar with the concept of exchange rates for currency, but few are familiar enough with regional costs of living being reflected by local costs of living stuff vs global purchasing power. ![]() Purchasing power in a global market vs regional is pretty interesting, too. Though, that's not always a sure thing across every market.) (IIRC, Steam provides pricing services/advice for developers and has some regional tool/pricing support stuffs so devs can figure out what their best, competitive, price point should be. If transaction processing isn't competitive, is restrictive, has added costs, that could have an impact. So, for instance, if a country levies a big tariff/tax on "electronic imports" that could certainly effect the price the consumer sees. Pricing can be radically different across regions/nations even for e-products like "games." There's a variety of reasons for this and some can not be effected at all by the seller/developer. For myself, the game and its DLC is reasonably priced. ![]() The numbers you cite are different than mine, so I must assume they're not in "USD." ($USD) That gives rise to several possibilities that could substantiate your complaint. On top of that, Rimworld was on 10% of sale, max. There are plenty of mods that add new events, clothing and other minor things while I mostly miss on empire(?) faction and the psychic abilites. Base Rimworld costs 124.99, Royality 71.99. ![]() Originally posted by Majiin Vegeta:I do not understand how I would buy Royality expansion that adds so little for over 50% of base game price. ![]()
